Spring Camporee - May '09

This year, for our spring Camporee, we headed to a great piece of property in West Flower Mound a few miles north of Texas Motor Speedway. It was a huge, grassy field with plenty of space for all the Camporee events and activities including archery, a pond crossing on a wooden raft, lessons on taxidermy and blacksmithing, tomahawk and knife throwing and much more. Late Saturday night, all the troops present held their tapout ceremonies for Order of Arrow, but not before the Eagle Award for Outstanding Troop based on performance in all the Camporee activities was awarded to... Troop 451!

Mr. Taylor and Mr. Mussman prepare for a great non-stop weekend!

Tired? Who's tired? We're ready to bring home that Eagle trophy! Now, where's breakfast?

That's right! We're the senior leadership!

A couple of the first year scouts cookin' up a fantastic breakfast! No Pop Tarts for this patrol!

Before the Troop heads out for all the Camporee activities, Senior Patrol Leader Brendan G. holds a quick meeting to inspire everyone to have fun and bring home the trophy.

First up, let's learn a little something about Taxidermy.
Robert P., Matthew M., Christopher W., Ben R. and Michael M. do the Screaming Eagles patrol proud at the archery range.

There's nothing to this pond crossing stuff! We've got this nailed.

O.K. Maybe not.
Ethan B. and Trent P., proud members of the "Henry VIII Patrol," enjoy a hearty leg of some small animal perfectly roasted with new potatoes and carrots.

John K. picks up the first blue ribbon of the evening at the awards campfire. We didn't know it at the time, but it was just the first of much more to come.

James K. picks up another award and it looks like the Eagle Award could be coming back to Lewisville.

It's official! Troop 451 is the most outstanding Troop at the Spring Camporee! George P., John K., James K., Tanner M., Brendan G. and Jacob P. hoist the Eagle in triumph!
