Geiger Samples
When the campers all assemble together with all troops present, among other things that go on are various amusing diversions. One feature of various meals and other gatherings at camp Geiger is a game they call "Spin-or- Bust", featuring a wheel of fortune-type spinning wheel. The wheel consists of eight segments, seven of which have labels describing various prizes, such as "win a merit badge book", "win a slushy", "win three slushies", etc.
One scout from among all the campers present Is selected at random to play the game in front of the whole camp. The player may spin the wheel as many times as he wishes, until he hits "bust". The catch is that if you get the segment labeled "bust", you lose anything you may have already won. Worse still, every time you win a prize, that segment's label is removed to reveal a new "bust" segment. Thus, the more successful spins a player makes, the worse the odds of winning become.
For this reason, contestants usually stop after two or three spins but one fellow went bust on his second spin. Another fellow, however, won four prizes before deciding to quit.
Another characteristic Camp Geiger diversion also occurs at lunch time. One diner is selected as "Sitting Bull". This lucky (or perhaps UNlucky) is chosen to perform a task selected at random from a hat. This contains a bunch of paper slips with various silly tasks. Todays honoree got the dubious pleasure of duck-walking Across the dining hall and back.
Songs and skits also feature at various gathering. This is just a tiny slice of what life is like at Camp Geiger
