HILL OF THE DAY - The Hill To The Med Lodge
This week, we thought it would be fun to let you start your day the same way we do - with a big old hill! As many of you know, you can't get much of anywhere at Camp Geiger without taking on a pretty serious hill. So each day this week, we're going to give you a closer look at the five most challenging hills in camp. Today, we tackle #5 - the hill heading up to Camp HQ and the Med Lodge.

It may not look like much, but this bad boy tests every camper's resolve first thing out of the gate on Sunday morning when they check in at HQ. While not overly long by Geiger standards, this 50-60 yard hill is super steep and full of deep dirt ruts that have to be carefully navigated. In a particularly cruel twist, it actually gets steeper the higher you climb, until it finally flattens off at the road that leads to the dining hall. The thing is, by the time you get to this hill, you've already walked a good half mile (or many miles if it's the end of the day) and already conquered at least one of camp's five big inclines. This hill is one of three you can take to get to the dining hall and since it's the shortest, it gets a lot of play. It also gets serious degree of difficulty points when it rains and the hill turns to mud. Hopefully we'll miss out on that this week.
