Camp Geiger - July 4th 2:30pm
After setting up camp, then having the lunch their parents so lovingly packed for them, it was off to check in. The process was a little bit different this year than in years past. The boys were taken from the campsite in groups of 15 (other troops were groups of 10, but since we are the largest contigent...) and we were taken to the HQ, but we took the scenic route instead. One of the camp staff was our guide and showed us some of the new paths, where the dining hall was, where the med station was...then it was time for check in.
After check in (a quick and painless process where you get your blue wristband..."if you don't have a wristband, you don't eat" the boys were told), the tour of the camp continued. The merit badge areas the shooting ranges, the camp fire areas, and then the swimming pool, where the boys had thier swim tests.
The boys were very excited to start getting into the meat of their camp experience, but for some their minds were still on things going on at home:
